Chapter One

Charlotte, Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs. Charlotte’s body tingles as she watches the Thunderbirds circle the Air Force Academy field as they fly in after orbiting Pike’s Peak. The near-deafening noise as the jets come in, maybe too low over the academy, just above the dormitory buildings, is like music to Charlotte’s ears. It is the sound of freedom. She wishes to one day fly one of such super fighter jets, but she has a more immediate goal to achieve before then - winning the prestigious Mountain West Women’s Championship. With the conference tennis final set for later in the day, Charlotte switches back her focus to the heavily-stained, rough-looking, two-page inked paper sheets lying on her bed. She has made it a habit to read this ‘reality check’ letter on every significant occasion. After some initial reluctance, she starts reading slowly - letting every word and sentence sink deep before moving to the next. It takes almost forever, and her eyes turn reddish when Charlotte finishes. She instinctively swipes her right palm over the underside of her eyes but there are no tears to wipe off. “At least, I didn’t cry this time.” She mumbles aloud. “...Screw, boys!” “What did they do to you this time?” Lizzy Newman, one of Charlotte’s roommates in their Dorms-4-Airmen apartment, overhears her earlier outburst while walking past her room. Charlotte immediately regrets not locking her room door. “It’s nothing,” she stiffly replies. “Did another one of them break our lovely Charlie’s heart?” Lizzy strolls into the room to meet Charlotte, who is half-dressed beside her bed. On seeing Charlotte’s ‘secret’ letter, Lizzy hugs her. “You will be fine, Charlie. I saw Konan taking bets from the boys at 1-5 odds to your favor last night at Mitch’s…And Konan is never wrong.” Charlotte wished her fears were as mundane as winning. She knows she’s the favorite to win the title. She has once played her rival, Meady Anderson, at a national junior competition and won convincingly. Today’s game will likely have the same outcome, yet for some weird reason, Charlotte still feels sure. “Is it now confirmed that he will be attending?” Charlotte blurts out. “Who?” She tries to fake an excited response: “You know...the homecoming of the Prince of Colorado Springs.” She fails in her attempt, which sounds layered with a hint of concern. “You mean Captain Marvel? The best thing that ever happened to the academy in the past decade, Captain Marvel Mann?” Lizzy’s voice rises as she speaks. “Of course, he flew in here along with the rest of the Doolies-welcoming squad.” Charlotte gets the confirmation she desperately sought, yet she is still unconvinced. “I thought he typically pulls off his signature solo-flying spiral move on his arrivals...but I didn’t see much of a move so I wasn’t sure.” She hits back at Lizzy. Lizzy’s flashy face grows redder. She twitches her hair for a bit and struggles with her following words. “I heard something, Charlie, but I’m not 100 percent sure if it’s true.” She eventually opens up. Lizzy can’t resist a good gossip. She continues: “...I heard rumors that Captain Marvel only flew in here after several long weeks of his job at his Nellis base. They say he was testing some specialized virtual-reality drills ahead of some top-level international operation as the team lead...So all that practice and flying in without much rest might explain why he didn’t do the solo-falcon spiral move. But we will see the move on his departure instead.” Charlotte knows better than to take Lizzy’s words for granted. Lizzy is so great with gossips that she gets access to almost every news within the academy, including top-level information on rare occasions. Also, from Lizzy’s explanation, Charlotte realizes her earlier mistake regarding the name of the Captain’s signature move. “Oh it’s called Solo-falcon spiral move?” She corrects herself, before scoffing: “He could have thought of something cooler.” “Well, when you’re as cool and handsome as Captain Marvel, anything you say automatically becomes cool.” Lizzy hits back. “Well not to me. I don’t think he’s all that cool as everyone says.” Charlotte blabs out her thoughts unknowingly. What a big slip up! Charlotte can see the raging fire in Lizzy’s eyes. She is done for now. Her apparent dislike for the homecoming hero is now evident to Lizzy. “Don’t you like the Captain?” Lizzy’s question puts Charlotte in between two evils. There is no perfect answer so she decides to go for the least damaging one. “Of course, I do. Who wouldn’t love Captain Marvel after hearing about his crazy exploits! I feel there might be another side of him no one knows.” “Better. I thought you hated him for a second.” Lizzy heaves a sigh of relief. They continue to talk about the significant events over the week until Charlotte realizes she’s almost running late for practice. “It’s almost seven already, I’ve got to go take my bath and rush off to court.” Lizzy grudgingly leaves. She enjoys talking about men, particularly the hot ones with fame, so she would have loved to keep the Captain Marvel topic going for hours. Whereas, it was getting boring to Charlotte. “Best of luck, Charlie.” She blows Charlotte a friendly kiss and rushes out of the room. With Lizzy gone and her room door shut, Charlotte takes a few more minutes to reflect on the day ahead. The fear of Captain Marvel taking all the shine from the tennis championship finals and first-year students welcoming party doesn’t seem so bad anymore. Who cares if he is the only one on everyone’s lips at the end of tonight’s events? She has heard great things about Captain “Marvel” Mann since she entered the academy three years ago. A full day of him dominating the show is just like another day so rather than bitch any more about it, Charlotte decides to let it go. She rereads the letter. Every word sinks more profound this time. Once done, she folds it back her and places it underneath her mattress. Now she is prepared for a long day ahead - a day she would forever remember. ******* Mountain West Women’s Championship Final. “Out!” The line umpire signals to the merriment of the crazily-packed crowd in the court. Charlotte gets another win as she extends her lead to 40-15 in the eighth game of the first set. With the score at 5-2 and her opponents beginning to play better, Charlotte wants to pick the next points badly. She walks to her corner for a quick breather before taking her serve. “Game and set, six-two!” Charlotte’s powerful serve once again takes out Meady as she breezes through the first set. “Charlie, the bomber!... Charlie, the bomber!!” rings the crowd. During the break, Charlotte searched the VIP section of the court but still couldn’t find him. Didn’t he make it? Did he consider the tennis championship too irrelevant to be worth his time and remain in his VIP suite, enjoying himself with women and alcohol? “Such an asshole, always full of himself!” Charlotte curses under her breath. The game would continue at the same pace as the first set. After a refreshing break, Charlotte’s energy is recharged. She sees off Meady with more ease as the final set ends 6-0. At the end of the match, Charlotte Hodges is declared champion of the Mountain West Female Championship by the stadium announcer, with the presentation of medals and trophies following soon afteU.S. Air Force Academy memberszen honorable members of the U.S. Air Force Academy before eventually getting her hands on the silver shining trophy. Chants of her name erupt again as she steps down from the podium. Just before she could walk away from the court, someone taps Charlotte gently on her left shoulder. “Thirty-one minutes. Impressive game. But you still didn’t beat my championship finals time record. Anyway, you played great. Congrats Miss Hodges.” Charlotte’s jaw drops as he speaks. The smoothness of his voice and charming smile sent her into a brief trance - one where she felt like a hapless human in front of a supernatural being. She takes longer than she would have wanted to figure out her response. “Your record?” She has no idea who is his. “I’m Marvel, the Thunderbird lead.” He extends his hand for a handshake. “I’m sure you’ve heard of me already.” He winks. Oh, sure! Charlotte couldn’t believe she couldn’t recognize the man, that has occupied her thoughts for much of the past few days when he eventually showed up. She is almost embarrassed at her ignorance. “Sure...Of course...Sorry I didn’t recognize you. No, I meant everyone here knows you but...” Charlotte cowers in, as words continue to fail her. “It’s Okay.” Marvel smiles, seemingly amused by her reaction. Charlotte awkwardness worsens as she soon realizes that she is yet to release the captain’s hand. “Sorry.” She finally lets go of his hand. By now, Charlotte can barely look at his face. She buries her head to the floor, in hope for the grounds to open up and save her from the embarrassment. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel is all chill with the smirky smile permanently resting on his clean-shaved face. His baritone voice goes off again, this time in a louder note: “Honestly, miss Hodges, I’m a bit surprised seeing you for the first time. I thought you’d be taller and maybe even younger from the few pictures I saw. Anyway, I guess we will see each other at the party later tonight. Enjoy your victory, champ.” He laughs aloud as he leaves Charlotte to greet the other captains. With Captain Marvel gone, Charlotte finally regains her senses. “Why did I freeze like that? How foolish did I look to him? He knew me already? How?” Many more questions flood her head as she regrets failing the well talked about ‘Captain Marvel girls’ test.’ Charlotte has heard tales of girls falling so hard at the presence of Captain Marvel but she would have never believed being a victim. She hates herself for being exactly what she detests about the other girls. But luckily, she has another shot at redemption with the dinner party only being some hours away. Not wanting to waste any more time, Charlotte ditches the next event: The Men’s Championship final. She has a revenge plan to scheme. She sneaks out of the court just before the game begins and heads back to her dorm room. As she hurries off, almost running, and with so much pace; flashbacks of her encounter with Captain Marvel torment her. She could hear every word he said, his wicked grin, self-loathed smile, and sense of exuberance. “Oh, gosh! I can’t mess up this bad again!” She swears.

Chapter Two

Marvel; Victory Party, Academy Officers’ Club, Colorado Springs. Marvel’s entrance is captured as he meets a packed house on getting to the Officer’s Club, the venue of the dinner party. The academy’s program had just commenced, which is exactly how Marvel likes it. He hates being an early-comer and prefers joining the fun. The raising soon-to-be Air Force officers are presented to the cheering crowd as they take their oaths. Marvel keeps himself busy with shots of whisky as the rites continue. High-ranking officers in Marvel’s table take bets on the doolies who were getting ready to proceed to their second year. “Who you gonna pick among these wannabes to drop out of the academy before graduating?” Marvel missed Captain Edwin’s question the first time. His mind is distracted. “Hey, Marvel! What’s your pick?” Edwin’s loud voice cuts off Marvel’s dreamy thoughts. He apologizes and switches interest to the ongoing wager. “The Ed Sheeran lookalike, third to the right. He doesn’t look like he wants to be here.” Marvel places his bet. “He’s probably smart enough, but will not finish the race.” “Smart choice. I’m sure he’s already made his choice to be a looser. These new kids are just a bunch of softies.” Lieutenant Coleman supports Marvel’s pick before making his choice. “I’m going for a guy this time. My last four...or five picks, all girls, were terrible...” “...Especially the Hodges one. That was a terrible, terrible one. Talk about totally missing the mark.” Another captain chips in. “Well, Hodges didn’t look as badass as she is now. Hindsight is a bitch!” Lieutenant Coleman owns his bluff as the rest of the table take turns in clowning his ‘Hodges failure’. Marvel remains silent as he absorbs everything about Charlotte. The conversation now seems interesting to him as everyone else gives their opinion on her. Most of the reviews are great except for a few misogynistic quotes from two captains. Marvel decides to excuse himself from the group as the main topic switches back to the wager on losers. He wonders why Charlotte is taking so long to show up to the party. Maybe she isn’t all that awesome after all? Marvel has doubts about her ‘badass’ credentials, but he is still willing to give her a chance if she eventually shows up. “Looks like you got stood up, Captain.” Becky the bartender quips. “I’m sure it’s not gonna hurt you that much since it’s also something you do quite often to those unlucky souls. So why not bounce it off and move to another one, like you always do.” Becky, drops another unsolicited advance as she refills Marvel’s beer stein. Becky and Marvel have a history from his time at the academy. Becky was one of the unlucky girls to be left heartbroken by the young popular Cadet Commander Marvel Mann. She was a sweet girl back then, but her rendezvous activities with Marvel didn’t last a week before Marvel moved to another girl, with no explanation. He just stopped showing up and Becky never forgot or forgave him. Marvel ignores Becky’s gimmicks as he is in no mood for emotional blackmail. Just as he is about to finish his fifth drink, the awaited one finally shows up. Watching Charlotte walk through the entrance door in a dazzling blue dress sends Marvel’s nerve cells to the heavens. He is beyond stunned. Charlotte was meant to be this masculine-athletic-energy-giving blonde, not this goddess figure that sent his lust meter running wildly off-limit. Marvel drops the almost-empty stein and swoops into action immediately. “Room Attenn huT!” He yells out in salute to Charlotte. All eyes in the room turn to Charlotte at Marvel’s command. She looks so cute and smitten as Marvel walks closer to her. When he approaches Charlotte, he grabs her hand raising her arm high into the air. “To the victorious, Cadet Hodges, who has again solidified our Alma Mater’s glory today as she commanded the Mountain West Tennis Championship. Hear hear.” Charlotte blushes as she genuflects to the toast. Everyone repeats “Hear Hear and takes a drink.” “You certainly know how to make an entrance Cadet. But you’re late, miss...Buh...I guess it’s better late than not showing up. Welcome to the party, Miss Hodges.” Marvel greets her with a cheerful confident smile. “Thank you Captain. I’m sorry A girl just never has anything to wear.” Charlotte’s voice sounds more confident than their earlier meeting. Marvel’s eyes check out this beauty and she laughs at him. She laughs at him; “did I pick out the wrong thing?” Now it’s Marvel’s turn to be tough tied and he nods his head ‘no’. He instinctively takes her hand and leads her back to his spot at the bartender’s table. Charlotte doesn’t seem to mind them holding hands, despite a packed room of preying eyes watching. Since the party has been going on a little while, many have had just enough to drink to make them more aggressive. About a dozen drunk-hungry firsties who have been hassling Becky to refill their steins, stop to acknowledge both Marvel and Charlotte. In Marvel’s presence, every one of them pauses, paving the way for Marvel and Charlotte to approach the bar and to place his order. Marvel simply nods in approval and Charlotte simply laughs at them. He turns to Charlotte to ask for her drink preference before requesting four bottles and two two steins from Becky. “Isn’t that too much?” Charlotte only asks after they get to a private table at the far corner of the hall. “I thought it would be too little for the two of us...Don’t worry, we can always give out any leftovers to these young drunkards wandering around.” Charlotte laughs a bit. “Why do you lot love alcohol? I can do one bottle just for fun but not more than that. I don’t like being tipsy and losing full control of myself to someone, or something like alcohol.” “So you like being in charge?... Everytime?” Marvel wants her to keep talking. He loves creating an air of comfort with women and one way to do that is to get them to open up. “Yes...It’s better that way. I hate being vulnerable to something out of my control. That’s why I decided to join the military because I felt it rewarded being in control..” “Do you still think that way?” “What way?” Charlotte seems to feign ignorance. Marvel can tell that she is only avoiding such conversation. “...I didn’t know I would be drinking alone with you when you said we’d see each other again at the tennis court. I thought it would just be like...” Charlotte gets tongue-tied midway as she struggles to express herself any further. “...You thought wrong, Miss Hodges.” Marvel intervenes. “The Cadet Vice Wing Commander, a nationally-ranked tennis champ, and highly tipped to be the top graduate of your class. All these achievements from a girl with a humble Texas background. Geez! I had the plan of spending tonight with you.” The last sentence comes off tense as Marvel’s eyes remain locked on hers. His charm is so killing. Charlotte remains silent as she lowers her head while playing with her beer bottle. She has only taken a few sips from the drink, so Marvel could tell that she doesn’t do alcohol. He reads her thoughts as the silence heightens the tension. Not wanting to push Charlotte back to her ‘awkward version’, Marvel switches the conversation back to tennis and to their career ambitions. “Actually, I read your profile after I left the men’s final and the other winner, the Luke guy, but yours was more interesting. You were always top of every class from middle school to senior year at high school. Valedictorian and strong sports profile being a highly-rated junior member of ATA with state championship wins. So, it’s kinda hard to understand why you didn’t go for Harvard, Yale, or Stanford. These top colleges would be begging to have you, with zero strings attached after graduation, but you left all that for the academy? Why?” Marvel would love to understand this puzzling decision. Charlotte’s eyes pop wide open. “You made research on me? What else did you know?” She is curious to know just how much the star-boy Captain knew about her. Marvel empties his second bottle before answering her questions. While he dislikes people responding to questions by asking a different question, he gives Charlotte a ‘pass’ this time. Still staring straight into her eyes, Marvel bends across the table and pauses for a bit right in front of her face. She keeps the contact, biting her lower lips as Marvel triggers her curiosity. “I know you don’t drink. So let’s not get you drunk ‘cos the night is still too early.” He whispers to her right ear and returns to his seat. Charlotte smiles widely before blurting out in laughter. “Was it that obvious?” She has a mixed feeling of relief and slight embarrassment. “It was part of my research. You might be shocked by how much more I know about you, Miss Hodges.” Marvel boasts. “You could tell because I barely drank anything.” Charlotte laughs as she calls his bluff. “Silly me! I thought I was faking it well. I’m so stupid!” She can’t stop laughing. They share a silly joke. Charlotte gives up her bottle of beer to Marvel and orders her favorite soda drink as they continue their conversation. Her conversation grows more free with Marvel and soon afterwards they are sharing even their deepest feelings. Charlotte eventually opens up about her major reason for ditching a ‘sure ticket’ to an Ivy League college for a career in the U.S. Air Force: “Brigadier General Jeannie M. Leavitt was my childhood hero after meeting her in an interschool event in our hometown. She was the Air Force’s first female fighter pilot in 1993, flying the F-15E Strike Eagle...” “...She was very feminine, and nice,... and yet commanded great respect from everyone even my father, who loves to portray a macho figure at home. The idea of a woman getting my dad to salute her and even struggle to get a handshake from her, melted my heart. Suddenly, after that event, I started reading up on her.” Charlotte can’t stop talking now. and Marvel never interrupted her, instead he leans in, genuinely interested in knowing more about her. “Brigadier General Jeannie did a lot of cool stuff, flew over 3,000 hours, and one day I hope to follow her footsteps and make a bigger breakthrough as the first female CSAF or at least retire as a four or five star general...” Marvel watches on admiring Charlotte as she talks about her background, lofty dreams, and long-term plans. She has taken over the conversation with Marvel happy to sit back and listen. Their discussion continues for another hour until a band starts playing loud music in the hall. “How about we go dance?” Marvel suggests out of the blue with the distraction of the music sapping his interest. Charlotte declines instead suggesting they move to somewhere private. She has grown to enjoy the conversation and doesn’t want it to end. “How about we go to my dorm instead?” Marvel jumps straight to the idea. “Sure, that’s better.” He tries to hide his mischievous smile but Charlotte seems to have caught it. She smiles sheepishly too as Marvel leads the way as they exit the party. They walk side-by-side, laughing aloud to each other’s crassly comments, with each of them uncertain of what’s next to come.

Chapter Three

Charlotte; Air Force Academy Dormitory, Colorado Springs. Even though it’s already past eleven, they meet an empty apartment on arrival. None of Charlotte’s roommates are back from the party. Not even a trace of Lizzy or Tara who loves to have her friends over at the slightest chance. Even her third roommate, Julia, had traveled out of campus days earlier. Everything seems to be going Charlotte’s way tonight. Well, except for the untidiness of the living room area - no thanks to Tara and her crazy friends. “My roommates can be so messy at times. Sorry, I didn’t know they wouldn’t clean up after their little get-to-together earlier.” Charlotte can barely look at Marvel’s face. She’s so embarrassed. She immediately starts panicking as she clears the pizza boxes on the table. “Where is the mess? I can’t see any.” Marvel laughs off her concerns. “You should see my dorm room back in the days. Underclassmen we were always scrambling to clean up because we were such slobs and received unannounced inspections. Luckily, I had an insider who whould give me a heads up. But ours was never as clean as this. Can’t even see the mess that’s making you so worked up.” “Really?” Charlotte feels a bit at ease now. She leads Marvel to the couch, which she scrapes away various objects before going back to the refrigerator for her special French wine - a Valentine’s gift from an anonymous admirer - from the refrigerator and two cup glasses. They continued their deep conversation as Charlotte pours him wine, keeping his glass full. Charlotte way too curious about uncovering the mystery behind the impressive pilot in front of her. “I’ve heard about your legendary relation ships, so who is it now? Let’s see, Miss Las Vegas, or is it Miss Nevada you are seeing? Then there’s the rumor about the SecDef’s daughter, isn’t she at Michigan State? Isn’t she a little young?” Charlotte is excessively tired from the tournament and party, blurting this out without thinking. The silence that follows before his reply sends Charlotte into a chaotic state of emotions. She regrets asking the question as she fears for the worst. He is almost thirty, handsome, and successful. A man like Marvel is every woman’s dream so he obviously has someone or a couple of women hidden somewhere. It’s so understandable. Why did I ask this dumb question? Charlotte rants about in her head while Marvel maintains his mischievous smirk as he takes forever to respond. “Sorry, I shouldn’t be asking all those questions. It just seems some of the female cadets here know so much about you, but I don’t. I am always busy with practice or school or leadership functions that I don’t have time to do gossip or read the tabloids. I only heard the rumors at dinner the last few nights, as the girls anticipated your arrival. I’m sure I will be the gossip or disdain of every female at the Academy.” He’s a little surprised that she didn’t know more about him since he’d been following her since she started at the Academy. “I don’t do relationships. So NO, I am not in any.” His reply isn’t the perfect one but it is still far off better than what Charlotte expected. She keeps her lips sealed, not wanting to risk asking another ‘stupid’ question. “...Why do you ask?” His intent gaze makes her more uncomfortable. She takes a peep at her phone. It’s almost midnight and none of her roommates are back yet. Suddenly, Charlotte wishes for one of Lizzy or Tara to barge into the room and save her from her misery. She steals a glaze at the Captain but his sharp deep blue eyes catch hers. Her heart pounds so fast and her legs shiver despite the warmth of the room. She wants to say three words: ‘I WANT YOU’ as that is the only statement that describes exactly how she feels now, but her lips remain motionless. “I find you attractive, Charlotte. What man wouldn’t. Your beautiful, charming, athletic, somewhat confident. You and I seem to have a lot in common. Those long nights on alert, I would catch up on the Alumni news and then all of the sudden, there you were, the tennis goddess. I guess I had to meet you.” Instinctively, Marvel moves closer to Charlotte. He takes her left hand in one hand and holds her chin with the other. They look dead into each others’ eyes. Charlotte bites her lips in anticipation of what’s next to come. Marvel makes the first move. The first kiss is soft and nerve-soothing. A more passionate kiss follows next. Then more kissing.. They depart the couch for her room and begin disrobing. ******* Suddenly, Charlotte sits up: “Who’s there?” She calls out. Charlotte almost drops to the floor in panic. She hushes Marvel. He is bewildered by her sudden change of emotion. Charlotte tiptoes to the door to have a good sneak. She sees nobody but remains still in the hope that the intruder will appear. Marvel joins her to have a look. They are barely clothed. “There’s no one here.” Marvel hisses. “I heard something...like footsteps and they were loud. I could tell for sure, I heard someone running off..” Charlotte isn’t buying Marvel’s nonchalance. She walks into the common room for a better inspection. Eavesdropping at her roommate’s doors, she cannot hear anything. Charlotte’s confusion worsens when everything in the living room looks untouched, exactly how they had seen it on arrival. She almost lost it until Marvel’s discovery. “The entrance door is unlocked.” He calls it to her attention. “I am sure I locked the door. Someone definitely came in while we were in here and left in a hurry after I shouted. This is serious!” Charlotte is almost screaming as a series of permutations of possible events and consequences run through her mind. “Chill out for a bit. Who else has access to your apartment? Only your roommates right? So if it’s one of them that caught us and ran out, would that be such a bad thing? I’m sure whoever that is just panicked and ran off to avoid infiltrating our privacy. So that won’t be a big deal.” Marvel’s logical thinking comes to the rescue. Charlotte stops panicking for a bit and returns to her room for some solemn thoughts. She has little reason for concern if the intruder is Julia, for she typically minds her business. But not Tara, and definitely not Lizzy! Tara might tell Lizzy if she was the one and once it gets to Lizzy, the whole academy is sure to know! “Why are you so tense? Is it about rumors about us spreading out? Everyone saw how close we were at the party. I’m sure most people who saw us leave the O’Club together would have thought we were going to get some...some action. So what would the rumors change?” Charlotte remains buried in her thoughts. She cared about being given a ‘slut’ tag. It would set her up for unwanted advances. Getting some ‘action with Captain Marvel’ - borrowing the captain’s terminology - will be like a dream come true for most female cadets. Some of them might even highlight such ‘accomplishment’ in their resume if they are lucky to get some ‘Marvel’. But not Charlotte. She fears that these rumors might link her future career success to this night. Charlotte, being the ambitious type, strives to earn every badge of honor through sweat. But with the new connection with Captain Marvel, she fears how much impact it would have on her clean and perfect reputation so far in the academy. Marvel joins Charlotte on her bed. She can tell that Marvel isn’t bothered at all. He seems to think she’s overreacting. He holds both of her hands and never stops smiling. He has locked her door behind them. “What would you rather be? A baby goat or a mata baby?” Marvel’s question sounds dumb to Charlotte. “What’s mata baby?” She asks back. “I don’t know baby, what’s the matter with you?” Charlotte lets out a cute smile. He has done another one of his wordplay tricks. They share more rounds of laughter with Marvel playing a fool of her. At the demise of the joke, their hands remain locked together. “Tonight is my one of best days. Haven’t had this much fun with a stranger in a long time. I probably will never forget tonight’s experience, and I will miss you, Miss Hodges.” Marvel’s sweet words, whispered into her tingling ears, send Charlotte back into her lalaland of pure ecstasy. She is lost in his deep blue eyes. The dimly lit room doesn’t do much justice in revealing the beauty of this man. Charlotte’s heartbeats start to rise faster as crazy thoughts and emotions fill her lovestruck head. On impulse, she swings in this time, taking his full lips into hers which soon turns to a long hour of passionate lovemaking.
